Green fleets, making extensive use of electric vehicles, could actually help to save lives by improving air-quality…
Can Green Fleets Save Lives?
Venson Automotive Solutions, a vehicle leasing company, is urging fleets to prioritise the electrification of their fleet vehicles. They claim that green fleets help to reduce emissions and improve air-quality, providing health benefits for drivers and local communities.
In addition to adopting electric vehicles, the company also claims that fleet decision-makers can make a difference by eliminating needless journeys. Going further, they can also contribute by promoting car sharing initiatives amongst their teams.
Installing speed limiters on fleet limits can also help businesses to produce green fleets. This is because emissions are typically at their lowest at around 50 mph, and rise sharply at 70 mph and above.
A ‘Very Important’ Role To Play
Alison Bell, operations director at Venson Automotive Solutions, commented on the role green fleets can play in improving air-quality. She said, “with road transport being one of the causes of air pollution, it’s a good place to start when looking to improve the quality of the air we breathe. With so many options for electric and alternative fuel vehicles now available, switching to a greener vehicle could also be the easiest significant change any individual can make”.
She added, “fleet and procurement teams have a very important role to play in reducing business emissions. Embracing a ‘green fleet’ will go a long way to meeting not only their own organisation’s environmental targets but also the country’s”.
