Tesla’s lineup in the UK is about to get a bit bigger, it’s popular Model Y SUV is now available to order. With prices starting at £54,990, it’ll compete directly with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz EQC and BMW iX3. Deliveries will start sometime in early 2022. To begin with, customers will be able to choose between two variants – the Long Range AWD and Performance. Other variants, it’s believed, will follow at a later date.
The Long Range option, as the name implies, boasts an impressive 315 miles of range. It’ll also manage 0 – 60 in an impressive 4.8 seconds and has a top speed of 135 mph. However, it’ll manage 0 – 60 in 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 150 mph.

Both versions of the Model Y are packed with an impressive array of in-car technology. Drivers will enjoy panoramic glass roofs, so-called ‘frunks’ for additional storage and split-folding second-row seating. In addition, keyless entry is made possible via smartphone connectivity and the car’s controls are operated via a 15-inch touchscreen.
Tesla’s mobile app will also allow drivers to pre-condition their vehicles, summon them from a distance and unlock them from afar. Over-the-air software updates will also continuously add to the Model Y’s capabilities. Finally, drivers will have access to Tesla’s 6,000-strong charging network dotted across Europe – including V3 Superchargers; which are capable of charging at rates up to 1,000 miles an hour.
